Holst Birthplace Museum , Clarence Road- The museum details the life of the famous musician and composer of "The Planets". See his piano and hear his music in this restored Regency house.
The Imperial Gardens- Originally planted out for the exclusive use of subscribers tothe Sherborne Spa, built in 1818 on the site where the Queens Hotel now stands,the gardens now provide magnificent floral displays.
Sandford Park Ornamental water features, annual bedding displays, the Unwin fountain. The River Chelt, from which Cheltenham derives its name, runs through the park and the Lido is open throughout the summer.
Montpellier Gardens These gardens date from 1809 and are bordered by stately lime trees. Atree-lined broadwalk and annual displays of foliage plants make this a place to visit. Nearby Montpellier Walk has interesting specialist shops with statues, the Caryatids, in place of supporting pillars.
Pittville Pump Room Completed in 1830 the magnificent Pump Room still offers the opportunity to sample the salty waters which were believed to be most beneficial and a help in curing a variety of ills from constipation, rheumatism and gout to scrofulous affectations, exudations and worms! More realistically the waters are claimed to be antacid, mildly diaretic and laxative.
Pittville Park The largest ornamental park in Cheltenham Pittville Park was opened in 1825 and is home to the magnificent Pump Room and lakes. The ornamental parkland consists of specimen trees and shrubbery with a formal lake, walkways and bridges.
Antiques Cheltenham is a very popular centre for antiques. Theshops are many and varied with some specialising in certain fields of the antique market. Frequent fairs are held on Sundays at Cheltenham Racecourse and elsewhere in the town. Cheltenhams architecture elegantly shows its Regency heritage in its stately buildings with intricate ironwork,a distinctive feature of the town. Mediaeval churches, Victorian buildings and over 2000 listed buildings illustrate the range of architecture to be found in the town.The tree-lined Promenade is one of the finest boulevards in the country, dating back to 1818 when the avenue of elms and horse chestnut trees was planted. Neptunes Fountain, modelled on the Trevi Fountain in Rome, was added in 1893.
